The Life Cycle of Puccinia graminis

Poster for the VizbiPlus Challenge, 2017

This poster was created for the 2017 VizbiPlus Challenge, inspired by the animation "Rust", by Chris Hammang. As a finalist, it was exhibited at The Spunky Bruiser Store gallery space in June 2017 as a part of VizbiPlus and Vivid Sydney events, as well as during the Vivid Ideas Exchange ceremony at the Museum of Contemporary Art.

The project aims to describe the heteroecious life cycle of the wheat stem rust fungus puccinia graminis f. sp. tritici; the appearances of the five spore stages and the impact on their hosts at the cellular level.

The piece strives for impactful communication of scientific concepts through artistic expression.
