Decompressive Surgery for Chiari Malformation
Surgical illustration
Posterior cervical spine surgery can be difficult to observe and visualize due to its anatomical location, small surgical field, and plethora of surgeons and nurses typically present during the operation. The goal of the project was to create a concise, accurate sequential illustration describing the surgical procedure for Chiari Malformation. The illustration is case-based, demonstrating procedures and pre-existing conditions specific to the surgery observed. The project was an introduction to surgical and sequential illustration, including operating room observation, conventions of surgical visualizations, and additional procedure research.
